An apartment complex in Davidson Township, MI had a big scare on Monday. Workers at the Charter Oaks complex were in an apartment working and found a pile of red sticks that appeared to have a timer affixed to the top. Scared that this could be a bomb made in the apartment, the workers took a picture, left the residence and called the police, who then contacted the Genesee County Sheriff’s Department bomb squad and the U.S. Department of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. They were about to evacuate the whole complex and detonate the apparatus when the apartment owner came home and told police it was just four painted tubes and a pressure gauge, which was going to be used as a part of a Halloween costume. Can you believe that? The “dynamite” must have been very realistic. Whoa!

10I know this isn’t Halloween related, but I thought it suited the holiday coming up…The Vermont Teddy Bear Co. is featuring a 15-inch teddy bear dressed in a straitjacket, which they are calling “Crazy for You Bear”. Unfortunately, this little furry guy has upset a mental health advocate which believes the stuffed animals are “tasteless and they stigmatize people with mental illnesses”.
