Growing up, there were always those special treats that were only available during the month of October. You know the ones, the cereal, the candy, and the beverage that had some ghost or ghoul written all over it. Well, some of those treats I admit, I LOVED! For example, who remembers Booberries and Ectocooler? Just to name a couple of my favorites. I would love to hear some of the once a year treats that you knew and loved back in your day. Reminiscing is so much fun…

When I vacation or travel, I like to research the history of the area to see if there is anywhere worth my while to check out. I tend to go to various sites specifically on that area. I came across this map and thought it was pretty cool. Click on a state and it tells you haunted places, the history behind them, and even the location…very handy. Even if you’re not planning on taking a trip, it’s still worth taking a look…

** Caution this post may be too graphic for some readers**
This article isn’t Halloween related but is very disturbing so I thought I would share. I have heard of this technique before and it has been around for ages, it’s called Trepanation. Trepanation is the act of drilling, cutting or scraping a hole into ones skull. It is said by cutting a hole in the skull and leaving it opened permanently you will allow an increase in brain blood volume or the brain will adjust itself to a new equilibrium. Basically it will make an increase in the oxygen to the brain and if the theory is true, it will function at the levels of a youth. In this article a man describes his trepanation experience in great details along with photos. This is your brain on trepanation..

I’m not sure how many of you have been to Salem, MA before but something is definitely different in that city. Salem’s high school football team has a mascot that dons a pointy hat and sits atop a broom, now that’s a mascot if you ask me. During my experiences in Salem, I too have noticed little things that bring a smile to any Halloween fanatics face, for example their police cruisers and uniforms have and image of a broom-riding sorceress on them, some people would overlook this type of thing, not me, I appreciate it. So the next time or first time you go to Salem, look for the little things and you’ll certainly see what I am talking about. Halloween in Salem is extremely crowded but totally worth going to check out, I go every year and every year it gets better. For more history or information go here:Salem
